Disclaimer & Confidentiality
Two things you are entitled to know before you tell anyone anything: the limits of what we are qualified to do, and the limits of what we can keep private. Both are set out here in plain language.

Scope of practice
Feathers provides life coaching and counselling support. Mr. Chakkaravarthy RK is a Life Coach & Counselling Practitioner.
He is not a clinical psychologist, not a psychiatrist, and not registered with the Rehabilitation Council of India. We make no claim to be a rehabilitation professional within the meaning of the Rehabilitation Council of India Act 1992, and we do not offer any service reserved to registered mental health professionals under the Mental Healthcare Act 2017.
Sessions do not include:
- the diagnosis of any mental illness or disorder;
- the prescription of, or advice about, medication;
- the treatment of any psychiatric or medical condition;
- any assessment or report for legal, custody, employment or medical use.
We do not use the title psychotherapist and we do not offer condition-specific treatment. Where what you need lies outside this scope, we will say so and help you find the right professional. That is not us turning you away; it is the only responsible answer.
Not a substitute for medical care
Counselling and coaching are not a substitute for medical, psychiatric or emergency care. If you have been diagnosed with a mental illness, or are under psychiatric treatment, please continue to follow your doctor's advice. Nothing said in a session should be taken as a reason to stop, change or reduce prescribed medication or treatment.
Not an emergency service
We hold sessions by appointment. We do not monitor WhatsApp, phone or email continuously, and this website has no crisis facility. A message sent to us may not be read for some time.
If there is immediate risk to anyone's life or safety, contact local emergency services, or Tele-MANAS on 14416, which is free, staffed 24 hours and available in Tamil.
About the content on this website
The pages on this website are general information about the services we offer. They are not advice about your situation, and reading them does not create a professional relationship between us. Advice is something we can only give once we have actually listened to you.
About the relationship check-in
The relationship check-in is an educational self-reflection exercise. It is not a validated clinical or psychological instrument, it has not been tested for reliability, and the percentages it shows describe nothing more than the answers just given to it.
It does not say whether a relationship is healthy, whether it will last, or whether anyone in it has any condition. It is not a diagnosis, and it is not a substitute for speaking to someone.
It also stores nothing. Answers stay in the browser's memory and are gone when the page closes. We never see them.
What confidentiality means here
What you say in a session stays between us. We do not discuss you with your family, your employer, your college or anyone else, and we do not confirm to anyone that you are a client. Notes are kept secured and separate from your contact details.
In a couple, family or group session, please understand that confidentiality is shared: we keep what is said private from outsiders, but the others in the room hear it, and we ask everyone to respect it in the same way.
The limits of confidentiality
You should know these before you decide what to tell us. Confidentiality may be broken, to the smallest extent necessary, only in these circumstances:
- Serious risk to life. Where we believe there is a real and immediate risk that you or someone else will be seriously harmed, we may contact emergency services, a medical professional, or a person close to you.
- Harm to a child or a vulnerable adult. Where we believe a child or a vulnerable adult is being harmed or is at risk, we may be obliged to report it.
- A legal requirement. Where a court orders disclosure, or the law otherwise requires it.
- A person under 18. Where a client is a minor, their parent or lawful guardian may need to be informed of matters affecting their safety or wellbeing. [STATE HOW YOU HANDLE THIS — what a young person can expect to be kept private and what will be shared]
- With your consent. Where you ask us in writing to speak to someone, such as a doctor.
- Professional supervision. Practitioners discuss their work with a supervisor to keep its quality up. [CONFIRM WHETHER YOU USE SUPERVISION. If so, cases are discussed without names or identifying details.]
Wherever it is safe and possible to do so, we will tell you before we disclose anything, and we will share the least that is needed.
Records
We keep brief session records so that your work with us can build over time. They are held for [RETENTION PERIOD] after your last session and then destroyed. You may ask to see what we hold about you, and ask us to correct it — see our Privacy Policy.
Testimonials and results
We do not publish client testimonials, case studies or before-and-after claims, and we do not quote anyone who has attended a session, with or without a name. Any figure on this website describes the practice, never an outcome you should expect.
