Marital Counselling in Neyveli & Cuddalore

Couple counselling and post-marital counselling, in Tamil or English.

When communication becomes difficult, small disagreements turn into the same argument every time, emotional closeness reduces or trust is affected, marital counselling gives a couple somewhere to work out what is actually happening between them.

You do not have to be in serious difficulty to come. Counselling is just as useful when two people simply want to understand each other better. Sessions run in person in Neyveli or online, in Tamil or English, and you can come together or on your own.

What couples come with

Couples come with all of this, and most of it is ordinary. Counselling is not only for couples considering separation.

  • Communication

Feeling unheard. The same conversation never reaching a solution. Silence instead of talking.

  • Emotional distance

Living together and still feeling alone, with affection that has quietly reduced.

  • Trust

Broken promises, secrecy or suspicion — and rebuilding after a serious difficulty.

  • Conflict and anger

Frequent fights, old issues coming back, and no way to repair things afterwards.

  • Intimacy

Reduced closeness, and difficulty talking about it without either of you feeling rejected.

  • Money

Different spending habits, hidden expenses, and who decides what.

  • Family and in-laws

Two families with two sets of expectations, and boundaries that are hard to set.

  • Parenting

Different styles, unequal responsibilities, and disagreements about the children.

  • Work and lifestyle

Work–life imbalance, relocation, long-distance marriage, who does what at home.

An individual difficulty — stress, ongoing worry, low confidence, anger, feeling overwhelmed — can affect the whole relationship too, and often that is where the work starts.

How sessions work

Every couple is different, so this varies. In general a session moves through something like this.

  1. Understanding the concern

Why you have come, and what each of you wants to work on. Both partners get the same hearing, and nobody is being judged.

  2. Identifying the pattern

Not one argument, but the cycle underneath it. The pattern is what changes things, not the individual fight.

  3. Communication work

Practical ways to say the difficult thing, and to hear it when it is said to you.

  4. Working on what matters most

Trust, family, parenting, money, closeness or conflict — whichever of those is actually the problem.

  5. Practical changes, then review

Something realistic to try between sessions, looked at again next time.

Most couples are not having many different arguments. They are having one argument in many different costumes:
  1. Trigger
  2. Reaction
  3. Counter-Reaction
  4. Argument
  5. Withdrawal
  6. Repetition

Once a couple can see the cycle while it is happening, they can step out of it. That is most of the work.

Together, or on your own

Counselling may be joint sessions, individual sessions, or a mix of the two. Some things are easier to say with both partners in the room; others need individual attention first.

A lot of people start on their own, because their partner will not come yet. That is a normal way to begin, not a lesser one — and partners often join later, once they hear that nobody is being blamed.

Online, or in person

In person at the practice in Neyveli, Cuddalore district, depending on appointment availability.

Online by video or audio from anywhere — which is what most couples living apart choose, one on each screen. Some mix the two around work and travel.

Questions couples ask first

Can I come on my own if my partner will not?

Yes, and many people do. One person changing how they handle a difficult moment changes the moment. Partners often come along later once they hear what the sessions actually involve.

Will you take sides?

No. Both of you get the same hearing. The aim is that each of you leaves understanding what the other has been trying to say.

Which languages are sessions in?

Tamil and English. Choose the one in which you can say the hard part.

Do you meet in person, or online?

Both, and some couples mix them. In person in Neyveli, Cuddalore district, depending on appointment availability; online by video or audio from anywhere.

Who will we be speaking to?

Mr. Chakkaravarthy RK — Counsellor, Life Coach, Relationship & Couples Coach, with 6+ years of experience and over 1,000 sessions. You speak with him directly.

Is marital counselling the same as marriage or couple counselling?

Yes. Marital counselling, marriage counselling and couple counselling all describe the same work. Post-marital counselling is the same thing at a later stage of a marriage.
