Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it and what you can ask us to do with it. It is written for the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, which calls you the Data Principal and us the Data Fiduciary.

What we collect
We collect different things depending on how you reach us.
When you enquire or book
- Your name, and the phone number or email address you contact us from.
- Which service you are asking about, and any preferred day or time.
- Whatever you choose to tell us about your situation, in your own words.
Every enquiry button on this website opens WhatsApp with a message already written, which names the page you clicked from. That is how we know which service you are asking about. The message is ordinary WhatsApp content and is carried by WhatsApp, not by this website.
When you attend sessions
- Session notes, kept only to the extent needed to work with you properly.
- Dates and times of sessions, and payments received.
Information about your health or mental health is sensitive personal data and we treat it accordingly.
When you browse this website
This website uses Google Analytics 4 to understand how it is used. It records which pages were viewed, roughly where the visit came from, the type of device and browser, and how the visitor arrived. It sets cookies named _ga and _gid. It does not tell us who you are.
This website also uses Microsoft Clarity, which is more than page counting and you should know exactly what it does. Clarity records a replay of the visit: where the pointer moved, what was clicked, how far the page was scrolled, and how long was spent on it. We watch these back in aggregate to see where the website confuses people. It sets cookies named _clck and _clsk. It does not record what you type into a field, and it does not tell us your name.
Clarity is not on the relationship check-in. A replay reconstructs the page, which would show us which option you had selected. Because that page promises we never see your answers, the recorder is switched off there rather than merely limited. If you would rather not be recorded anywhere on the site, blocking cookies in your browser stops both Clarity and Analytics.
The relationship check-in
The check-in at /assessment keeps your answers in your own browser's memory while you take it, and forgets them the moment you close or reload the page. Nothing is transmitted to us, nothing is written to your device's storage, and we never see your answers or your result. If you want to discuss a result, you have to tell us what it said. Session recording is disabled on that page for the same reason.
Why we collect it
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 we rely on your consent, and on the Act's legitimate uses where it applies. Specifically:
- To arrange and hold sessions — we cannot book a session without a way to reach you.
- To work with you competently — notes let a session build on the one before it.
- To keep records we are required to keep — including payment records.
- To improve this website — analytics, in aggregate.
We do not use your data for advertising, we do not sell it, and we do not make automated decisions about you. Website analytics and session recording are used to improve the website, in aggregate; we do not link them to your enquiry, your sessions or anything you have told us, and we do not build a profile of you as an individual.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not become bookings: [RETENTION PERIOD, e.g. 6 months].
Session notes and records for people who attended: [RETENTION PERIOD] after the last session.
Payment records: as long as tax and accounting law requires.
Analytics data: as configured in Google Analytics, currently [GA4 RETENTION SETTING, 2 months or 14 months].
When a period ends we delete the data or remove anything that identifies you.
How we protect it
We keep reasonable security practices as expected by section 43A of the Information Technology Act 2000 and the rules under it: access limited to those who need it, devices protected by a passcode, and records kept where others cannot casually see them. This website is served over HTTPS.
No method of storage or transmission is completely secure. If a breach occurs that affects you, we will inform you and the Data Protection Board of India as the Act requires.
Your rights
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 you may:
- Ask what we hold about you, and what we have done with it.
- Correct or complete anything inaccurate.
- Ask us to erase it, unless we are required to keep it.
- Withdraw your consent at any time. This does not undo what was lawfully done beforehand, and it may mean we can no longer offer sessions.
- Nominate someone to exercise these rights if you die or become incapacitated.
- Raise a grievance with us, and afterwards with the Data Protection Board of India.
To exercise any of these, email contact@featherslifecoach.com from the address or phone number we hold for you. We may need to confirm it is really you.
Cookies and analytics
This website sets four cookies and no others: Google Analytics' _ga and _gid, and Microsoft Clarity's _clck and _clsk. There is no advertising, no retargeting and no third-party tracking beyond those two services.
You can refuse them by blocking cookies in your browser, or by installing Google's official opt-out add-on. The website works normally either way.
Children
[DECISION NEEDED — pick one and delete the other. This is not cosmetic: see the note below.]
Option A, adults only. Our services are for people aged 18 and over. This website is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect a child's personal data. If you believe a child has given us data, email contact@featherslifecoach.com and we will delete it.
Option B, we do see under-18s. Where a person under 18 attends, we process their data only with the verifiable consent of a parent or lawful guardian, obtained before the first session. We do not track children's behaviour and we do not advertise to them.
Why this matters: section 9 of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 requires verifiable parental consent before a child's data is processed, and separately prohibits tracking or behavioural monitoring of children. This website runs Google Analytics on every page, including the pages about student counselling. If Option B is the true answer, that combination needs a considered decision rather than a sentence in a policy. Session recording makes it sharper still: Clarity replays what a visitor did, which is behavioural monitoring in the plainest sense, and it runs on the student counselling pages.
