What husbands and wives come with

Most of it is ordinary, and you do not have to be close to separating to come.

  • Talking without fighting

Every conversation turning into the same argument, or into silence.

  • Growing apart

Sharing a house and a routine, and still feeling alone in the marriage.

  • Trust

Secrecy, suspicion, or rebuilding after something serious has happened.

  • In-laws and family

Two families with their own expectations, and a couple caught between them.

  • Money and work

Who earns, who spends, who decides — and work that leaves no time for each other.

  • Children

Different ideas about raising them, and responsibilities that feel uneven.

  • Anger

Fights that flare up fast, and no way to make up once they are over.

  • Closeness

Less affection or intimacy, and no easy way to talk about it.

Questions couples ask

Is there husband and wife counselling near me?

There is one practice, in Neyveli Township, and couples come to it from across Cuddalore district — Cuddalore, Chidambaram, Vriddhachalam, Panruti and the towns around them. If travelling is hard, the same session runs online, so near you can mean your own home.

Do we both have to come?

No. Many couples start with one partner, and the other joins later or not at all. Sessions with one of you can still change how the two of you talk to each other.

Will the counsellor take one side?

No. The counsellor does not decide who is right. The work is on what keeps happening between the two of you, not on finding someone to blame.

Can we talk in Tamil?

Yes. Sessions run in Tamil or English, whichever the two of you would rather use, and you can move between them.

Is it confidential?

Yes. What is said in a session stays there. The few limits, such as a risk to someone’s safety, are set out on the disclaimer page.

Take the first step together

Send a message with a time that suits you both. One of you can write for the two of you.

Counselling is not emergency care. If you are afraid of your partner or in danger at home, call 112 or the Women Helpline on 181, free and open 24 hours. For mental health support: Tele-MANAS — 14416.
