What people come with

Married? Husband and wife counselling has its own page. This one is for every other stage.

  • Before marriage

Getting to know each other properly before the wedding, not after it.

  • Family approval

A love marriage one or both families are against, and how to talk to them.

  • Long distance

Different cities or countries, different time zones, and less and less to say.

  • After a break-up

An ending you did not choose, or did and still cannot move on from.

  • Trust and jealousy

Checking phones, suspicion, and rebuilding after something has happened.

  • The same argument

Small disagreements that always end in the same fight.

  • Staying or leaving

Not sure whether to commit, and not sure how to decide.

  • Patterns

Choosing the same kind of partner, or ending up in the same place every time.

How sessions run

  1. Each side

What each of you sees happening, heard without interruption.

  2. The pattern

What keeps repeating between you, and what sets it off.

  3. What you want

Whether that is to stay, to marry, or to part well.

  4. What changes

Small, specific changes you both agree to try between sessions.

Questions people ask

Do we have to be married?

No. Couples come before marriage, while engaged, in a relationship their families do not know about yet, or after it has ended.

Can I come on my own?

Yes. Many people come alone, after a break-up or when a partner will not come. Work with one person can still change how the relationship goes.

Will the counsellor take sides?

No. The counsellor does not decide who is right. The work is on what keeps happening between the two of you.

How much does a session cost?

Fees depend on the kind and length of session. Ask on WhatsApp and you will be told the fee before anything is booked.

Can the session be in Tamil?

Yes. Sessions run in Tamil or English, whichever you would rather think in.

Relationship counselling near you

Choose your town. Each page says how to reach the practice from there, and how online sessions work if you would rather not travel.

Somewhere else? Sessions run online, so the same counsellor is as near as your phone.

Take the first step

One message is enough. Say whether it would be the two of you or just you.

Counselling is not emergency care. If you are afraid of your partner or in danger, call 112 or the Women Helpline on 181, free and open 24 hours. For mental health support: Tele-MANAS — 14416.
