Some things are easier to say in Tamil

Life in Kuwait can be good and still be heavy. Long hours, a spouse or children in another country, parents ageing back home, a relationship falling apart over the phone, and few people here you can tell.

It is hard to explain all that in a second language, or to someone who does not know what a Tamil family expects of you. People in Kuwait already call us for this reason. You can talk in Tamil, in English or in a mix, and nothing you say goes back to your family, your friends or your employer.

• Love failure and relationships: when it is ending, or has ended, and nobody here knows.
• Your child’s career: what to study after 10th or 12th, and where.
• Stress and overthinking: work pressure, loans, loneliness, sleep.
• Family and parenting: teenagers, and a parent working far from the children.
