About Nagapattinam
Nagapattinam is a port town and district headquarters on the coast of the delta, with the Nagore dargah to its north and Velankanni to its south, a place where faiths have lived side by side for centuries.
It was the district hit hardest by the 2004 tsunami, and many families still carry that. Fishing is hard, uncertain work, and many young people here are choosing between the sea, a degree and a job far away.
