About Pattukkottai
Pattukkottai is a town in the south of Thanjavur district, the market for a wide belt of coconut groves and paddy, and the home of the poet Pattukkottai Kalyanasundaram.
Like much of this coast, it has sent many of its young men abroad to work. Marriages lived on video calls, and children growing up with one parent away, are an ordinary part of life here, and not an easy one.
